Kyle Theisen

Head coach of Midland Dow varsity girls basketball team. In 9 seasons at Dow, Kyle Theisen has amassed an overall record of 183-32, won 7 SVL Conference Titles, won 6 District Titles, won 2 Regional Titles, and the school’s first ever Final Four appearance in 2021. In the past 9 seasons the varsity team has made more 3 pointers than any other school in the state of Michigan, while still shooting over 35% on average from behind the arc in those seasons. The team has been ranked in the Top 10 in the state in 3 point shooting 7 of the last 9 years. While the Dow teams have made their mark on the 3 point shooting record books, this has all happened with a 70% assist rate and a positive 1.02 Assist/Turnover ratio, showing the team concepts of passing and play-making translate to high shooting percentages. More importantly, in the last 9 seasons Coach Theisen has helped produce 7 All-State players and 14 players who received offers to play in college. Prior to taking over the varsity position, Kyle was the JV coach at Dow High School for 6 seasons with an overall record of 105-12 during that time. Kyle has been named the SVL Coach of the Year 5 times, Midland Daily News Coach of the Year 4 times, BCAM Regional Coach of the Year 3 times, was the Associated Press 2nd Team Coach of the Year for Division 1 in 2021, and was both the Associated Press and BCAM Coach of the Year for Division 1 in 2022.
